2008 IEEE Networking Forum

Hi everyone,

The Curtin IEEE Student Branch, in collaboration with the UWA IEEE student branch, is proud to present the 2008 IEEE Networking Forum.

This is a great opportunity for you to network with companies, especially if you are currently looking for vacation or graduate work. Last year there were over 30 companies in attendance, and many students reported that they got their work positions through contacts made at the networking forum.

To see what companies attended last year, visit www.ieeenetworkingforum.org

Early bird ticket sales are available from 26th May to 7th June, free for IEEE members, and only $2 for non-members. Tickets will be available on Tuesday 27th (from noon - 3pm) and Wednesday 28th (from 11am - 2pm) outside the Basement Cafe. You can also contact the committee for ticket sales outside these dates.

Hope to see you there!

Collecting stamps and signatures for the first screening

Hi everyone,

For all of you eagerly awaiting the first screening this week, I am sorry to say that our premier has been postponed. Unfortunately there is a lot of paperwork needed to get a venue and a lot of colorful stamps from around the campus on those papers. We're currently working to get all the stamps and will have a venue for our screenings as soon as we do. We're also trying to get a panel of engineers for these screenings so you can ask them all the questions that the video puts in your mind. We'll have posters up about the event as soon as both the venue and the panel have been confirmed. And then we can roll out the red carpet :)

Until then, watch this space, we're going to have some super shiny discount gadgets and tech toys coming up soon!

Orientation Week Stalls

Hi everyone,

This past week we held a stall at the Engineering First Year Orientation week. First of all, I would like to thank all those who signed up. On behalf of the committee, welcome to the Institute. For everyone else, we will have a stall on Wednesday for signing up so you too can register. If you signed up online, contact us (with your full name and IEEE membership number) so we can give you access to this website.

Planned Events for 2008

While you were enjoying your summer break, the committee members were busy planning stimulating events for the upcoming year. The major events that happen every year include

Held in conjunction with the UWA IEEE Student Branch, the Student Networking Forum is a careers fair for all branches of Engineering and Computer Science. It is an excellent chance to get vacation or graduate employment, as well as meet representatives from over 30 of the best engineering companies in Australia.

Held annually in August, it attracts over 200 students and tickets go fast. More information will be available closer to the date.
